The Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr on Sunday finally named his 23-man squad that will be heading to Russia to make Nigeria proud in the 2018 World Cup.

Having already trimmed down the provisional squad to 25 before the England friendly, Rohr was left with the decision of dropping two players from the roster.

The ‘unlucky’ duo dropped on Sunday are Ola Aina and Mikel Agu.

GOALKEEPERS

Francis Uzoho

Francis Odinaka Uzoho – born 28 October 1998 – is Nigerian professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Deportivo de La Coruña as a goalkeeper.

With just 5 caps to his name, the former Golden Eaglets reserve goalie, who made his Eagles debut in a 4-2 win over Argentina in November 2017, is expected to be the first choice in Russia.

Ikechukwu Ezenwa

Ikechukwu Ezenwa – born 16 October 1988 – is a Nigerian football goalkeeper who currently plays for Enyimba in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

He was a member of the Nigeria U-23 at the 2008 Summer Olympics , featuring in the qualifier games. He got the call up to the Nigeria Super Eagles in 2015 under the authority of Coach Sunday Oliseh.

He has 24 caps and was a first-choice goalie for the Super Eagles during the World Cup qualifiers, playing four of the games.

Daniel Akpeyi

Daniel Akpeyi – born 8 March 1986 – is a Nigerian football goalkeeper who plays for Chippa United.

Already having seven caps, Akpeyi made his first full cap in 2015, when he was called in for the friendly vs. South Africa as a replacement for an injured Vincent Enyeama.

He saved a penalty and was lauded for his strong keeping in his Man of the Match performance

Shehu Abdullahi – born 12 March 1993 – is a Nigerian football midfielder, who plays for Turkish side Bursaspor.

Playing just four games in the qualifiers and with about 24 caps to his name, Abdullahi’s pace and ability to play at either right back or central midfield are the keys that stand him out.

Chidozie Awaziem

Chidozie Collins Awaziem – born 1 January 1997 – is a Nigerian footballer who plays for French club FC Nantes on loan from FC Porto as a central defender.

The striker recently made his debut for Nigeria in an international friendly against DR Congo.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Kelechi Promise Iheanacho – born 10 March 1996 – is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Leicester City and the Nigeria national team

The 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup Golden Boot and MVP winner has netted eight goals in 17 appearances for the Super Eagles. His stats looks good ahead of Russia 2018.
